STUDENTS
UNDER 18 YEARS OF AGE
If
students are under 18 years of age, it is possible for one of
their parents or relatives to apply for a Student Guardian Visa
to accompany them to Australia.

If
students are under the age of 18 and wish to apply for a student
visa, the Australian Government requires that students:
-
Live
with a parent or custodian in Australia, or with a nominated
eligible relative, who is over the age of 18; or
-
Make
suitable accommodation arrangements with a supervised
nominated caregiver approved by the College.
All
students under the age of 18, are required to submit the
‘Pacific College of Technology ‘Student
under 18 Care Giver Form’ when accepting an offer.

IT and Business Administration courses in
certificate level requires a successful completion of Year 11 (or overseas equivalent).
-
Diploma courses require completion of
Certificate IV course or successful completion of Year 12
(or overseas equivalent). For further details, please refer
to entry requirements of relevant course.

A student with successful completion of Year 10 and
relevant work experience or a mature age
students (21 or above) who have necessary industry experience can also apply.
-
International students need an IELTS band score of 5.5
or
equivalent or
IELTS band
score of 5.0 plus 10 weeks course in ELICOS
to demonstrate their English proficiency for Certificate or Diploma studies.

The policy of Pacific College of Technology for student’s
age requirement is 16 years or above.

Student who have successfully completed accredited courses e.g. Certificate, Diploma etc. from a recognised training organisation in Australia or overseas prior to enrolling at Pacific College of Technology may be eligible for
Advanced Standing/RPL towards their current studies at this college. Student wishing to apply for
Advanced Standing/RPL must complete an application for
Advanced Standing/RPL form after they have received and accepted a formal offer of a place from the College. This form is available from reception desk. Forms must be submitted for processing before term census dates.
Student holding a Student Visa must apply
Advanced Standing/RPL before enrolment. This is a requirement of
Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC). Considering the number of
Advanced Standing/RPL Units the department will make a decision for student’s duration of stay in Australia to complete the rest of the Course in this college.

1. No enrolment submitted by the applicant shall be accepted without a written confirmation of a placement by the College.
2. All tuition fees and other applicable fees must be paid prior to course commencement. Tuition fees may alter from time to time.
3. Any variation of the terms and conditions of this Contract of Enrolment must be in writing and be signed by the College Principal.
4. It is a condition of enrolment that the student attend all scheduled classes except where there is a legitimate reason for non-attendance which is acceptable to the College (for example, illness supported by a Doctor's Certificate). If the enrolment is terminated due to a breach of this condition it is understood and agreed that there may be no entitlement to any refund of the tuition fees or other charges paid to the College under the Contract.
5. The student is required to use their best endeavours to meet the requirements of the College program selected and to abide by the rules and regulations of the College. In case of any breach of the College's rules and regulations, the enrolment may be cancelled and there may be no entitlement to any refund of the tuition fees or other charges paid to the College under the Contract.
6. Course fees do not include the cost of text books, students will have to purchase these on commencement of the course.
7. The student acknowledge that they have read and understood all the outlined College's Policies in this page.
8. Students are not required to be enrolled full time in their final semester where the students have been required to repeat units.
9. A student is not permitted to repeat a unit of study more than once.

a. All lessons and any material related thereto supplied by the College are copyright and shall remain the property of the College.
b. Any unauthorised copying may constitute a breach of the Copyright Act 1968 (as amended).
c. Upon completion of the course, all College materials supplied to me shall be returned to the College.

This
policy has been determined in accordance with the National
Code of Practice for Registration Authorities and Providers
of Education and Training to Overseas Students ESOS Act
2000. This policy applies to all students.
Students can apply for a refund using the
Tuition Fee Refund
form, which can be obtained from Administration. Refunds are
processed by the Accounts Department, and calculated and
documented using the Tuition Fee Refund form. They are
subject to the terms and conditions stated below.
Refund Terms & Conditions
1.
Requests for a refund should be made in writing to the Principal
of the College using the Tuition Fee Refund form, which
can be obtained from Administration.
2.
All
refunds will be made in Australian dollars (AUD) only.
3.
All
refunds will be made payable to and sent to the student or
nominated agent*.
4.
All
Application fees, Recognition of Prior Learning fees,
Re-assessment fees and Student Services fees are non-refundable
if they are incurred before the day of student default.
5.
Any
refunded amount will have deducted an administration charge of
AUD$200, and any applicable transaction fees, bank charges and
currency exchange fees, if they have been incurred before the
day of default.
6.
This
Agreement does not remove the right to take further action under
Australia’s consumer protection laws.
7.
The
College’s dispute resolution processes do not circumscribe the
student’s right to pursue other legal remedies.
8. Tuition Fee Refund due to Withdrawal or Cancellation
(Student default):
Under the S 27 and 28 of ESOS
Act 2000 student default will apply where the provider
refuses to provide or continue
providing the course in one or
more of the following circumstances:
The
student failed to pay an amount he or she was liable to pay
the provider, directly or indirectly, in order to undertake
the course
The
student breached a condition of his or her student visa
Misbehaviour by the student
a.
Refunds prior to commencement
i.
If a student has their visa application rejected, provided the
student produces the letter of visa application rejection by the
Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC), the College
will refund within two weeks the tuition fee paid minus applicable deductions**.
ii.
If a student withdraws from a course more than
twenty-eight days before the student’s starting date, the
College will refund within twenty-eight days the tuition fee
paid minus applicable deductions**. But, If student is enrolled
in any course which is also the principal course of study,
student is required to complete first six months of the course
and will not be eligible for a refund for the first six months
of the study.
iii.
If a student withdraws from a course twenty-eight
days or less before the course starting date, the student
forfeits the tuition fee paid for the first six-month period.
The College will refund within twenty-eight days any tuition fee
paid for courses thereafter, minus applicable deductions**.
iv.
If a student accepts the Offer of Admission and
pay the tuition fee for a course twenty-eight days or less
before the student’s starting date, the student forfeits the
tuition fee paid for the first six-month period. The College
will refund within twenty-eight days any tuition fee paid for
courses thereafter, minus applicable deductions**.
b.
Refunds after commencement
i.
If student
has their visa application rejected after the commencement of
course, the student forfeits the tuition fee for the commenced
period. The College will refund any tuition fee paid for course
thereafter in pro-rata basis (calculated in weekly basis as per
the College term calendar) within fourteen days minus applicable deductions** provided the student produces the
letter of visa application rejection by the DIAC.
ii.
If a
student withdraws from a course, or has their enrolment
cancelled after commencement but more than twenty-eight days
before the commencement of the next six-month period, the
student forfeits only the tuition fee paid for the current
six-month period. The College will refund within twenty-eight
days any tuition fee paid for courses thereafter, minus applicable deductions**.
iii.
If a
student withdraws from a course, or has their enrolment
cancelled after commencement but twenty-eight days or less
before the commencement of the next six-month period, the
student forfeits both the tuition fee paid for the current and
next six-month periods. The College will refund within
twenty-eight days any tuition fee paid for courses thereafter,
minus applicable deductions**.
9. Tuition Fee Refund due to Transfer to Other Course at Pacific College
a.
If a student transfers to another course at
Pacific College of Technology, the student is not eligible
for a refund, as the tuition fee paid for the current
six-month period of the first course will be credited on a
pro-rata
basis towards the tuition fee of the second course, and any
tuition fee paid for after the current six-month period of
the first course will be credited in full towards the
tuition fee of the second course.
b.
If the credited amount is greater than the total
cost of the second amount, the difference will be refunded
within twenty-eight days of commencement of the second course.
10. Tuition Fee Refund due to Provider Default
a.
If the College is unable to start the course
on the stated starting date or if the College ceases to
provide the course; the College will, within fourteen days,
issue a full refund of the tuition fee paid minus any applicable deductions**.
b. In the
unlikely event that Pacific College of Technology is unable to
deliver a course in full after commencement but prior to the
student completing, The College will refund the any tuition fee
paid for course thereafter in pro-rata basis (calculated in
weekly basis as per the College term calendar) within fourteen
days minus applicable deductions**
* Nominated agent refers to: Agent whom from college had
received the application and the fees.
**Applicable deductions refer to: Refund Administration charges
of AU$200, non- refundable Application fees, Administration and
Student Services fees, applicable Bank Transaction fees, Bank
Charges and Currency Exchange fees; if they are incurred before
the day of default.
11. Accommodation Fee Refund
a.
Refund prior to arrival
If a
student cancels accommodation more than fourteen days before
their arrival date, the fees paid for accommodation will be
refunded minus any applicable deductions.
If a
student cancels accommodation fourteen or less days before
their arrival date, the fees paid for accommodation will be
refunded minus a cancellation fee equivalent to one week’s
accommodation and any applicable deductions.
b.
Refund after arrival
Students are required to give at least twenty-eight days notice
to cancel accommodation.

The Australian government requires all overseas
students to pay for health insurance during their stay in Australia. Pacific College of Technology staff will assist students in arranging this through the Overseas Students' Health Cover Scheme (OSHC). Cost of OSHC for 1 year
course is A$444 (Single) and A$1,867 (Family).

The College reserves the right to change the particulars of the services, including changes of prices, courses, facilities and dates of programs; where circumstances beyond the College's control necessitate such changes or where the level of enrolments do not reach the minimum numbers required to operate a course viably.

In the event of a dispute between an individual student and the College, procedures are in place to facilitate the resolution of the dispute. If the student remains dissatisfied with the outcome, they may seek independent external mediation, through The Institute of Arbitrators and Mediators of Australia (IAMA), for more information please visit the website:

1. Code of Conduct, Attendance and Discipline.
Students are expected to abide by the terms and conditions of enrolment and the published rules and code of conduct of the College. Disciplinary procedures will be applied in the event of a breach of these rules. All staffs are expected to apply the College's policy and rules fairly and without favour, but if a student considers that this has not occurred, the student may refer the matter to the Director of the Studies.
If the student is dissatisfied with the decision or in the absence of a Director of Studies, he/she may ultimately refer the matter to the Principal for determination. Complaints and grievances must be submitted in writing using the Student Complaint form and a written outcome of the result will be given to the student. Consult the Student Handbook for more information.
2. Service and Academic Programs.
In the event of a student complaint concerning the quality of the service or teaching provided by the College, the student will report the matter to a person in a position of authority within the College. The complaint may either be dealt with by that person, or referred to the Principal for resolution. The decision will be conveyed in writing to the parties.
3. Contractual and financial issues.
Matters relating to the interpretation of the contract, or the payment or refund of fees, are stated clearly in the Application for Admission. Any queries relating to course fees and other charges payable to the College will initially be dealt with by the College Finance and Administration staff. If the student is dissatisfied with the decision; matter will be referred to the Principal.
This Agreement does not remove the right to take further action under Australia's consumer protection laws. Any default by the College will be covered by the provisions of the ESOS Act 2000 and the ESOS Regulations 2001. Additionally, students can access independent dispute resolution services through the Australian State Education Authority responsible for approving providers to offer courses to overseas students.
